New York City’s Madison Square Garden is going to be buzzing with activity this summer.
The hallowed venue has a number of big ticket concerts on the calendar over the coming months, with acts like Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, and Dan + Shay slated to take the stage between now and September. The venue also recently began welcoming a moderate number of fans back to New York Knicks and New York Rangers’ home games.
In the same timeframe, New York has removed the previous restrictions that required domestic visitors to quarantine upon arrival in the state, meaning that it’s now much easier to visit New York City and attend any of the upcoming events at Madison Square Garden.
If you’re planning on attending one of the events at Madison Square Garden this summer, of course, you’re going to need to eat. Luckily for you, the area around the arena is packed with incredible dining options suitable for all tastes and budgets.
Here are a few places you might enjoy, whether you’re grabbing a meal before a big game, or looking for a boost after a night of live music.
Kabooz’s Bar & Grill | 2 Pennsylvania Plaza
Kabooz’s Bar & Grill is located inside Penn Station. The restaurant specializes in American bar fare, and is known for its friendly and diligent staff. They’ll also stash your luggage for you while you eat if you’ve just arrived in the area, which is handy. Or if you’re looking for a nearby hotel to crash in, check out the listings on Launchtrip.
Club Bar & Grill | 4 Pennsylvania Plaza
Club Bar & Grill is located inside Madison Square Garden — it doesn’t get any closer to the arena than that. It’s a refined, roomy spot with an expensive food and drink menu, and a popular dinner buffet.
Nick + Stef’s Steakhouse | 9 Pennsylvania Plaza
If you’ve got a hankering for steak or seafood — or quality wine and whiskey — Nick + Stef’s Steakhouse could be your best bet. This restaurant also has a private entrance into Madison Square Garden, which is extremely convenient for those looking for a quick meal before a game or show.
Tír na Nóg | 254 W 31st St.
You’ll find this cozy Irish bar — a great spot if you’re looking for pub grub or a pint of Guinness — across the street from Penn Station. It’s a great choice for larger groups, and also one of the more affordable options near Madison Square Garden, so you and your compatriots can save your money for a Knicks cap or a Rangers jersey.
NY Pizza Suprema | 413 8th Ave.
You can get pizza by the pie and the slice at NY Pizza Suprema, a longstanding staple of the Madison Square Garden area. This pizzeria, which is famous for using heaping amounts of toppings, also has vegan friendly options.
Mustang Harry’s | 352 7th Ave.
You’ll find Mustang Harry’s —and its extensive beer list — less than five minutes’ walk from Madison Square Garden. This is another establishment that’s known for its friendly staff, who have taken great efforts to ensure patrons are as safe as possible during the pandemic.
