Get your festival fit on and ready your eardrums— Victoria, B.C.’s most exciting music festival, Rifflandia, has returned for 2022!
After a pause in 2019, and then two years of cancellations due to the pandemic, Rifflandia is back with an exhilarating lineup. Lorde and Charli XCX are set to headline in the festival’s all-ages venue at The Park, accompanied by Cypress Hill, Black Pumas, Lauv, and many more.
Meanwhile, DJ Diesel— better known as NBA star Shaquille O’Neal— will headline at the 19+ venue on Electric Ave. This isn’t a new venture for the basketball player, who released a series of studio albums in the 1990s and has had a successful career as a DJ for a number of years now. He will also be playing at The Park. The other artists playing Electric Ave include The Funk Hunters and Chali 2na & Cut Chemist.
More artists have yet to be announced, promising that the September festival will be even more exciting and eclectic than it already seems to be.
The festival dates are from September 15–18, with live music all four days. Past Rifflandia festivals have featured an exciting variety of vendors, from food trucks to unique local jewelry shops to a Rolla Skate Club booth, where you could pick up rollerskates and skate around while listening to the live music. The Park venue, at Royal Athletic Park, features a “Kidlandia” section with child-friendly activities, as well as a mini skate ramp to accompany the full-sized adult one.
Kids 8 and under get in free to The Park venue if they’re accompanied by an adult. Single day passes for The Park for 9-12-year-olds will be available soon for $10 a day.
There are multiple ticket packages available, allowing attendees to choose between venues; or, if they’d like to experience both, they can purchase the Super Pass or VIP Pass. The Super Pass will allow guests to flit between venues for all four days of the festival for $272. The VIP Pass allows access to both venues for all four days, with shaded seating areas by the stages, premium washrooms, a full cash bar, and mobile charging stations, for $525.
The festival also offers a 3-day pass for The Park from September 16 to September 18 for $241, as well as a 3-day pass for Electric Ave from September 15 to September 17 for $157.
