If you’re flying in or out of Newark Liberty International Airport, you’re in for a chic treat.

United Airlines opened their largest United Club location yet at the New Jersey airport on May 19th, 2022. At nearly 30,000 square feet, this addition is set not only to be the largest United Club, but also the most enhanced one.

With modern designs and a bright atmosphere, the club is an upscale break from the stresses of traveling. Flyers can self-scan for entry, tap into the free WiFi, and view the Manhattan skyline. Along with the typical United Club complimentary beverages and snacks, the new location features a full-service coffee bar staffed by a barista. The coffee shop experience features a premium signature blend of 100 percent Arabica beans from Italian coffee company illy. Among the vast amount of amenities are a foosball table and a colorful collection of books.

The club contains various seating areas — for lounging, socializing, working, and private dining— and over 480 seats overall. Many of the furniture pieces are locally sourced as part of United’s mission to put customers first and reflect their communities.

That customer-centric commitment is shown in the colorful murals within the club created by local artists. The first, painted by Gilbert Hsiao, is inspired by the musical history of Newark and the history of United. Meanwhile, Dahlia Elsayed’s piece is bright and colorful, featuring imagery inspired by the New York and New Jersey areas. The murals were made in collaboration with The Newark Museum of Art and Gallery Aferro.

The club also boasts six spa-like showers for travelers to freshen up and relax in, stocked with Sunday Riley products. The sustainable shower items are not United’s only foray into green living. The new United Club location is designed with environmentally-conscious materials and features, including enhanced indoor air quality and WaterSense-rated fixtures. These features were implemented as part of United’s commitment to sustainability.

Aaron McMillan, United’s managing director of hospitality and planning, stated in a press release that “United is committed to delivering a superior customer experience on and off the plane, especially in increasingly crowded airports.”

He expressed that the design and commitment to the local community of the Newark location will serve as a model for future club openings and renovations.
