On Sunday night, Foo Fighters took the stage at New York City‘s hallowed Madison Square Garden in front of the arena’s first full-capacity crowd since the pandemic began.

In a surprising twist, the band was joined by world-famous comedian Dave Chappelle for a cover of the classic Radiohead song Creep.

While this was a feel-good moment for lovers of live music, many of whom have gone over a year without attending a concert, the event was not without controversy.

The venue required all attendees to provide proof of vaccination, which led to significant protests outside. Similar protests also occurred at a recent Foo Fighters show in Agoura Hills, California.

Foo Fighters are currently in the midst of a sizeable tour, with upcoming dates in Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Chicago, St. Louis, Boston, Berlin, Milan, Lisbon and Madrid, and many other cities, on the calendar.

Dave Chappelle is also back on the road, with a particularly notable show happening on July 9 in Las Vegas, where he’ll share the stage wish podcaster and UFC commentator Joe Rogan.

New York City, meanwhile, is rapidly returning to normal, with plans to remove all existing COVID-related restrictions by July 1.
