After a two-year hiatus, Ultra Music Festival is back. One of the largest electronic dance music (EDM) festivals in the world, Ultra is taking place in Bayfront Park from March 25 -27. Featuring over 150 performers on six stages, the festival just announced its lineup and it includes some of the biggest names in EDM, plus a mysterious final closing act that has yet to be announced—but we have theories.
With so much talent in one place, Ultra can be overwhelming, but here are a few acts you need to check out.
Having worked with Selena Gomez, Miguel, Rita Ora, John Legend, and, posthumously, Whitney Houston, Kygo has established himself as one of the top spinners in the industry. Keep an ear out for hits like Higher Love and It Ain’t Me as the 30-year-old Norwegian DJ closes out Ultra’s opening day on the main stage.
Armin Van Buuren
Hailed as one of the kings of trance, Dutch DJ Armin Van Buuren is scheduled to play a back-to-back set with his countryman Reinier Zonneveld on Friday before closing out the first night with a solo performance on the Ultra Worldwide Stage. Get amped for the mix of Van Buuren’s iconic trance sounds with Zonneveld’s techno beats.
The French DJ’s name should be familiar to all music lovers, EDM fans or not. David Guetta was one of the first headliners announced at the festival, committing to a solo set on Ultra’s main stage. Guetta has been dominating the music scene since 2009 with songs like Titanium, Club Can’t Handle Me, and Sexy Chick. He continues to pump out hits, being named DJ Mag’s number one DJ in 2020 and 2021.
This Brazilian artist is known for her mixture of hypnotic techno and cinematic sounds. In February 2019, she graced the cover of DJ Mag’s North American edition, cementing her status as a musician changing the genre. If you want to dig into more of ANNA’s music, check out her DJ set at Cercle in 2018. She’ll be hitting Ultra’s Resistance stage on Saturday of the festival.
Tale of Us
This Italian musical duo is one of the most in-demand acts in EDM. Creating mesmerizing soundscapes and lush rhythms, Carmine Conte and Matteo Milleri have managed to charm both critics and fans. The two have dabbled in everything from dance music to classical tracks. Tale of Us will be performing on Ultra’s Resistance stage.
Ultra’s main stage closing act on Sunday night is a tightly sealed secret, but rumors are swirling that it could be Hardwell. The Dutch DJ retired from live shows four years ago, but a blurred image on one of Ultra’s 2022 fliers has fans speculating that he could be making a comeback. Known for songs like Spaceman, Off The Hook, and Young Again, DJ Mag voted Hardwell the world’s number one DJ in 2013 and 2014.
